In a context characterized by successive health, geopolitical, logistical, and economic crises, Moroccan importing companies are facing major disruptions that weaken their supply chains, increase their exposure to risks, and challenge their traditional management practices. Within such a highly uncertain environment, organizational resilience has emerged as a strategic capability enabling firms to anticipate disruptions, adapt to changing conditions, and ensure business continuity.
The objective of this study is to explore the resilience strategies developed by Moroccan importing companies operating in a multi-crisis environment and to identify the key organizational mechanisms implemented to cope with these challenges. To achieve this objective, the research adopts an exploratory qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews conducted with fifteen executives from Moroccan importing companies operating across different sectors. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis in order to identify the main resilience categories emerging from the participants’ experiences.
The findings reveal that organizational resilience relies on a combination of complementary mechanisms, including supplier diversification, enhanced organizational flexibility, process digitalization, proactive risk management, the development of organizational learning capabilities, and stronger collaboration with supply chain partners. The results also highlight a shift in managerial practices from a predominantly reactive approach toward a more proactive strategy based on anticipation, continuous adaptation, and organizational learning.
This study contributes to the organizational resilience literature by providing a contextualized understanding of the resilience strategies adopted by Moroccan importing companies operating in a polycrisis environment. It also offers practical managerial implications that may assist business leaders in strengthening their adaptive capabilities and improving organizational preparedness for future crises.
