Water demand for industrial use and its impact on the level of water stress in Morocco

Abstract

Generally, water is requested either for domestic use or for agriculture or industry, so the pressure from these three water requesters causes quite high water problems.
Specialists in the field qualify this major water problem as either a water shortage or a water scarcity, but we only speak of water stress if this scarcity reaches more extreme levels, and there we begin. to talk about a critical situation.
Indeed, we say that we are in a critical situation, when the stock of water is much lower than the consumption of this essential commodity.
It is in this framework where this work fits, which aims to seek the impact of water consumption for industrial purposes. To do this, we will try to develop an econometric model which measures the relationship between these two quantities to decide whether or not this relationship exists and also to measure the magnitude of this relationship if it exists.
The method used to measure this relationship starts with defining the appropriate model to process the data, followed by an analysis of the model's two variables to determine the best econometric form to employ, producing two models: one long-term and the other short-term.
The results drawn from this modeling will allow us to raise some proposals for the management of water stress in the short and long term.
