The financing of innovation and its impact on the environmental and social performance of industrial firms has attracted growing interest in the current context of the transition toward a sustainable economy. Within this perspective, this study analyzes the relationship between different forms of innovation financing (R&D intensity and public subsidies) and the sustainable performance of Moroccan industrial firms over the study period. The data, collected from national and international statistical sources, are analyzed using fixed-effects panel models, allowing for the empirical testing of three main hypotheses, including the moderating role of firm size. The results indicate that innovation financing has a positive and significant effect on environmental and social performance, and that this impact is stronger in large firms. In contrast, the effects on sustainable economic performance are more nuanced. The study concludes that support for innovation financing constitutes a strategic lever to enhance the sustainability of industrial firms and recommends strengthening public policies aimed at responsible innovation in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
